Joohee Bakes is a small baking operation in Englewood, NJ, specializing in pecan tarts and macarons.
One day after pastry school, Joohee asked her mom about the dessert she enjoyed the most. Mom shared that she loved pecan pies but that they were often too sweet or syrupy for her. So, Joohee decided to make a version of the classic dessert in a crumbly tart crust, with less sugar, more pecans, and an enjoyable mouth feel of each bite. Her family and friends gave approval. The Pecan Tarts joined in a local fundraiser in 2012, and “jooheebakes” was used as an email for receiving orders. The name ended up staying for other orders as well, and by 2013, Joohee Bakes became an official business with a move into a commercial kitchen in Englewood, NJ.
We would never be here today without the patient support of loved ones. It’s been a maturing journey, and we are grateful to be able to create and relate, one occasion at a time, one customer at a time. We love seeing our customers and their families visit us again. We delight in providing bakes that are less sweet, focused in flavor, and enjoyable for both eyes and palate. Currently, our menu comprises weekly pecan tarts, customized macarons, and additional seasonal items throughout the year.
Joohee studied Classic Pastry Arts at International Culinary Center in New York. Her business operates in a commercial kitchen and is based on pre-orders and pick-up, as there is no physical store-front. All pick-up visits are by appointment.
