Joohee Bakes is a small baking operation in Englewood, NJ, specializing in pecan tarts and macarons.
One day in 2011 after pastry school, Joohee asked her mom about desserts she enjoyed the most. She shared how she loved pecan pies but that they tended to be too sweet or syrupy for her. So, Joohee decided to make a less sweet, non-syrupy version of the classic dessert in a tart crust, with more pecans and improved mouth feel of each bite. Her family and friends gave approval! In 2012, the pecan tarts joined in a local fundraiser, and “jooheebakes” was used as email address for receiving orders. Afterwards, the name conveniently stayed, and other orders for birthdays and showers started to come in. By 2013, Joohee Bakes became an official business with a move into a commercial kitchen in Englewood.
It’s been a grateful journey of learning, creating, and relating throughout the years, one occasion at a time, one customer at a time. We love seeing our customers and their families visit us again. We delight in providing bakes that are less sweet, focused in flavor, and enjoyable to both eyes and palate. Currently, our menu comprises weekly pecan tarts, customized macarons, and seasonal items throughout the year.
Joohee studied Classic Pastry Arts at International Culinary Center in New York. Her business operates in a commercial kitchen and is based on pre-orders and pick-up, as there is no physical store-front. All pick-up visits are by appointment.
